The Story Behind Go2Grad Tutors

Growing up, the power and importance of education were always impressed upon me. It was my mother’s pursuit of and passion for her education that provided her the rare opportunity to leave behind a developing country and move to Canada to provide a better life for my sister and I. Through her hardships and perseverance as a single mother, she taught me that education could provide me with the powerful tools I needed to establish a solid foundation for my personal and academic development.

However, during my high school years, I began struggling and my grades dropped from an ‘A’ to a ‘C’. I was introduced to a completely new educational system (SABIS®) in which I struggled to adapt, despite devoting a lot of my energy to school. After becoming frustrated at my lack of progress, I saw a tutor for guidance and that was when my perception of learning changed. My tutor taught me two important lessons: how my learning style influences the way I understand information and how consistent effort through time-management could lead to major accomplishments. With the help of my tutor-mentor, I began cultivating my own learning strategies that allowed me to adapt and face challenges with confidence, but more importantly, I learned to enjoy my education again. The benefits of tailored guidance and teaching were clear: within the same semester, my grades shot up to “A+” in every subject and remained that way throughout high school.

“One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate the course to their destination” -  John C. Maxwell

Today, I am completing my Ph.D. in neuroscience and regenerative medicine after graduating in biochemistry summa cum laude. I have learned through my own experiences, and more recently through neuroscience research, what it takes to master high school and university education. My passion for learning soon evolved to encompass teaching and providing younger students with a similar opportunity for growth. This led me to create a unique method that not only helped me get to where I am today, but can be used by any student to improve their own learning experience.

Ahmad Galuta, the founder and CEO of Go2Grad Tutors

Using this method for the past decade, I’ve taught and mentored countless students ranging from high school to university, helping them with math, chemistry, physics, biology, and ultimately, achieving their personal goals. I’ve come to notice that many students were not satisfied with their earlier tutoring experiences. Most often, this was because the tutor was not able to communicate information in a way that the student could easily understand. As a tutor, you must be willing and able to understand the student’s learning style and use that to create motivational study strategies that allow them to enjoy the process of learning.

Thus, with a passion for learning and devotion to teaching, I founded Go2Grad Tutors in 2019. We are the only tutoring company with vetted graduate tutors and a unique, science-based method for learning. We use our life-long experiences as students and knowledge at the highest level to help the next generation of students realize and develop their own potential. Whether you’re a student, parent, or tutor, I invite you all to be a part of this educational movement!

RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research tries to unravel the unique features of human spinal cord stem cells by comparing stem cells from humans with animals (pigs and rats) and their ability to regenerate. My research also incorporates Nobel prize winner Shinya Yamanaka’s work that involves transforming skin cells into stem cells of the nervous system using genetic reprogramming technologies. Ultimately, my goal is to improve the translation of stem cell and regenerative strategies for spinal cord injuries.

My previous research experience includes working at five different labs across Canada, the U.S.A, and France. This includes research in fields related to immunology and obesity, regenerative medicine, physical chemistry and renewable energy, and theoretical chemical modeling.
